Luis Cruz Hernández is a Valladolid artist, whose work can be seen in Metta gallery (Villanueva 36) until the end of October. This exhibition, with the name "Things, you have to look at them", is a group of paintings in which we can clearly see the changing capacity and evolution of this artist. He follows a path, in constant evolution. His work wants to be an honest reflection of reality, which he captures without hiding, making bright colours disappear.
Abstraction has always been in his work, but in this collection, in a smaller degree. Shapes and forms are included in the paintings, and these are the ones, the main actors this time, without forgetting abstraction in the surroundings. Another interesting technique is the usage of divergent perspective, not following the traditional rules of art. With this technique he makes the spectator not only take a glance at the painting, but stop and contemplate it.
In Antonio Machón gallery (Conde de Xiquena 8) they will have until the 20th of October a fantastic collective exhibition called "Abstraction, informalism and pop" formed by works of some of the best known artists in Spain. They are all recognized in international art circuits.
You can find there names as important as Oteiza, Saura, Millares or Chillida. There are no more than two works per artist, and for those of you who don´t know much about vanguards in Spain, it is a great opportunity to get an impression about Spanish arts. It is definitely a well put exhibition, highly recommended.
Marcos López is an Argentinean artist, a photographer that comes from publicity, and he makes very funny things. you can see some of his works in Fernando Pradilla gallery (Claudio Coello 20) during this month. Have a look at the post in Spanish, his work "el asado" is really good. He uses irony in all his works, he sees the funny side of a situation that would make you cry. His work is a protest against masks. He considers the new buildings in Puerto Madero or the Calatrava bridge to be a mask for Buenos Aires city.
